The Emergency Receiving Home Child Support Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate care to children in crisis. In an emergency receiving home, the worker ensures the safety, emotional support, and well-being of children temporarily placed in the facility due to emergencies. This position demands empathy, resilience, and practical skills to meet the needs of vulnerable children and offer them a nurturing, stable workplace during distressing times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide direct care and supervision to children in the emergency receiving home, ensuring their safety and comfort while offering emotional support during crises.

Implement structured routines and activities for stability, and collaborate with social workers to develop individualized care plans.

Monitor and document children's behavior and progress, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment.

Facilitate meals, recreational activities, and hygiene routines for children, providing transportation as required.





Work with external agencies and families for successful transitions to long-term placements, and participate in training opportunities.

Work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, providing 24/7 support for children.

Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of childhood development to support children effectively.

Communicate and manage emergencies effectively, ensuring safety and adherence to NWFC operational manuals.

Ensure maintenance of homes, buildings, and vehicles according to policies and procedures.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Prior experience working with children

Valid Class 5 driver's license

First Aid/CPR Certification

Criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check
