Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.
The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

As a Caretaker, you will provide reliable custodial services at Government Centre, helping maintain a clean, safe and functional environment for clients, employees and visitors. Working within a time-sensitive, service-focused environment, you will support daily building operations, special events and positive client relationships.
You will be responsible for
Performing routine and specialized cleaning of floors, surfaces, windows, washrooms, and other assigned building areas, as well as snow and ice removal from walkways, entrances, and outdoor areas.
Setting up, cleaning and taking down spaces for meetings, functions and special events.
Replenishing supplies and maintaining clean, sanitary and well-organized facilities.
Operating, inspecting and maintaining custodial equipment and small tools.
Following safe work practices, WHMIS requirements and proper procedures for chemicals,
equipment and personal protective equipment.
Responding promptly and professionally to client requests while minimizing disruption to building operations.
Supporting operational needs such as moving furniture, shipping and receiving, supply orders, repair coordination and contractor services.
Providing coverage and assistance to other caretaking staff as operationally required.
Providing emergency response support for floods and other facility-related incidents, assisting Building Services as required, including on short notice.

Qualifications Required: Some high school education plus six months related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience,
or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Must-Haves
Experience performing custodial, cleaning, caretaking, facilities maintenance, or related operational duties.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of safe work practices, including WHMIS and the safe handling of cleaning products and equipment.
Experience operating and maintaining custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning machinery.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver quality results in a quick-paced environment.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, moving equipment and furniture, and completing routine cleaning tasks.
Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and the ability to support a variety of operational needs.
Assets
Experience supporting meetings, functions, events, or facility set-ups and take-downs.
Experience with shipping and receiving, inventory management, or supply ordering.
Experience coordinating maintenance requests, repairs, or contractor services.
Experience working in government, institutional, commercial, or large public-facing facilities.
Term of Employment: Upto Four (4) Permanent, Full Time Positions.
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week.

Hours: 3:30 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. (7.25 hours per shift)
A shift premium applies when working the scheduled evening shift.
If operational requirements result in reassignment to a day shift, the shift premium will not apply for those shifts.

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. (7.25 hours per shift)
No shift premium applies.
