Base salary: $65,000 – $80,000; compensation based on skills and experience MLT Aikins is looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant responsible for providing administrative and clerical support in the Bankruptcy & Insolvency group of the Vancouver office.Our ideal candidate is highly organized, has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and can follow instructions with minimal supervision and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Responsibilities include: Editing and formatting legal correspondence and documents including pleadings, affidavits and court forms
Filing documents with courts following British Columbia procedures and deadlines
Assisting with trial and hearing preparation including compiling briefs and organizing exhibits
Performing various administrative tasks including file opening and closing, billing and follow-up to review outstanding accounts, copying and scanning
Managing calendars, coordinating meetings, scheduling hearings and monitoring deadlines
Maintaining an efficient digital file system utilizing solid organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail




Performing additional administrative tasks as required
Qualifications include: Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant program or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation practice in BC
Experience or familiarity with bankruptcy and insolvency law is strongly preferred
Solid understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and litigation procedures
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
The ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment
Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading, spelling and grammar skills
Strong organization skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
