Matakana Scaffolding is looking for a Scaffolding & Temporary Works CAD Technician to join our team in Burnaby, BC. This is a great prospect for an experienced AutoCAD drafter or technician who enjoys working with technical drawings and wants to apply their skills to real-world construction projects.
You don’t need to be an engineer to succeed in this role. We’re looking for someone with strong AutoCAD skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in learning the design and engineering side of scaffolding, access and shoring systems. The ideal candidate will have experience designing or drafting temporary works, scaffolding, shoring or construction systems across commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects. However, strong AutoCAD experience and a solid understanding of construction may be just as valuable.

Compensation $30 to 32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do Prepare shop drawings and fabrication drawings for scaffolding, access and shoring projects.
Create, develop and revise detailed drawings using AutoCAD.
Produce material and fabrication drawings for shop and field use.
Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
Maintain organized CAD files, drawing revisions and project records.
Work closely with project managers, engineers and senior drafting staff to develop practical, high-quality solutions.
Apply industry standards, safety requirements and company quality procedures.
Help translate 2D drawings and concepts into practical temporary works solutions.
Perform basic design calculations where required — experience in this area is an asset.
Take on other related duties as required.
What We’re Looking For Must have: Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
Diploma or certificate in AutoCAD, drafting, Architectural Technology or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret construction, architectural and engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Valuable understanding of construction processes.
Ability to visualize 2D and 3D concepts.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with engineers and project managers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Experience with any of the following would be a strong asset: Scaffolding or access systems.
Temporary works.
Shoring systems.
Construction drafting.
Structural or architectural drafting.
Fabrication drawings.
Design calculations.
Commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects.
