As a Volunteer Lawyer, you will collaborate with the Women’s Centre team to help clients navigate the legal system. This role is for actively practicing lawyers in family, estate, immigration, civil, or criminal law. Expect to utilize empathetic listening and communication skills while being mindful of social issues affecting diverse clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide free legal advice to women and gender-diverse individuals
• Conduct individual sessions and workshops for legal guidance
• Maintain confidentiality throughout client interactions
• Collaborate with the Women’s Centre team effectively
• Support clients in understanding their legal options
Requirements:
• Practicing in family, estate, immigration, civil, or criminal law
• Solid communication and empathetic listening skills
• Commitment of two hours per month
• Alberta Bar Association member in good standing
• Basic understanding of relevant social issues
