Job Summary & Requirements
The Allied Health and Rehabilitation team, under the Maternal, Newborn, Child & Youth and Allied Health portfolio, consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.
The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines' practice and education needs, support at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.

We are currently seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist to support acute care casual replacement needs across our inpatient units. The successful candidate would be flexible, adaptable, and bring OT-specific acute care experiences and skills to support mid week and weekend support, with an emphasis on assessments of function, activities of daily living, cognition, delirium and interprofessional collaboration.
Casual staff are required to submit a range of availability for both weekend and weekday shifts and pick up shifts with a minimum frequency to maintain competency and currency with acute care practice changes.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program or University with a clinical Master's in Occupational Therapy(or equivalent)- Required.
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario-Required
MoCA certification - required
Member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - Preferred
Evidence of continuing education in acute care- Preferred
Experience:
Recent Occupational Therapy experience working in an acute care and/orrehabilitation setting.
A strong theoretical and practical knowledge of OT role and scope in promoting functional independence and occupational performance in an acute caresetting.
Knowledge of community services, supports, and equipment preferred.
Experience with acute care OT assessments, outcome measures and interpretation to support goal setting and patient flow.
Ability to function co-operatively as part of an interprofessional assessment team.
Possess comprehensive assessment,



treatment, and documentation skills
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, flexibility and initiative
Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals.
Superior organizational and time management skills are essential to management of the caseload.
Other:
Ability to learn about, from, and with other members of the patient care team to foster a robust interprofessional model of care.
Demonstrate an ability to appreciate the importance of andbe open to new concepts and the ability to trial new approaches.
