Canada Post is recruiting for a dependable, organized individual to deliver mail on an on-call basis to rural and suburban communities in Sept-Îles, QC.
As an on-call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you will work independently, operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions. This is a permanent on-call position with the opportunity to apply for upcoming permanent Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier positions.
Responsibilities Sort, collect and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner
Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers and delivery receptacles
Ensure mail is safely secured in your possession at all times
Process various Canada Post products and services (Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others)
Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility
Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
Operate a motor vehicle safely in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions
Requirements Valid permanent provincial driver's licence — Class 5 or G




Satisfactory secure driving record
Personal vehicle meeting Canada Post specifications: minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, passenger window sill height between 38" and 45" from the ground
Automobile liability insurance for use of vehicle during Canada Post deliveries
Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions
French language proficiency (French Essential)
Applicants residing within 75 km of the Post Office in Sept-Îles are preferred
Selection Process Must pass an interview
Must provide a current driver's abstract dated within the last 30 days if selected
Valid Class 5 or G driver's licence, satisfactory safe driving record, personal vehicle meeting Canada Post cargo and specification requirements, French language proficiency, delivery experience.
