Baldonnel Elementary seeks an Indigenous Student Support Worker to enhance educational experiences for Indigenous students. This part-time position focuses on cultural, emotional, and social support within the school community.
As an Indigenous Student Support Worker, you will collaborate with teachers and the Administrative team to address the diverse needs of Indigenous students. You are responsible for assisting in their educational success, maintaining significant records, and liaising with Indigenous communities. This role requires a deep understanding of Indigenous perspectives and an ability to foster a supportive environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain Indigenous student self-identification forms for compliance
• Develop schedules for supporting Indigenous students
• Provide classroom assistance and academic support
• Facilitate culturally relevant experiences for students
• Conduct home visits when necessary
Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• 1 year of experience with Indigenous communities
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture is essential
• Proof of ancestral background preferred
