This is astrategic health andsafety role focusedon strengthening occupationalsafetypractices across acomplex, multi-siteorganization.
You’ll design scalableprograms, policies, standards, and tools thatsupport compliance andproactive risk management.
The role combinesenterprise-level strategywith practical guidancefor leaders andoperational teams acrossmultiple jurisdictions.
You’ll interpret Canadianhealth and safetylegislation andturn complex requirementsinto clear, actionableworkplace controls.
Your expertise willhelp reduce incidents, improve preparedness,and embed prevention-focusedpractices into everydayoperations.
Working with diverseteams and environments, including unionized settings, you’ll influence safetyculture and organizationalresilience.

Accountabilities

Design and implementorganization-wide occupationalhealth and safetyprograms covering riskidentification, incidentmanagement, emergency preparedness, and prevention.

Develop and maintainpolicies, standards, procedures, and practical toolsaligned with Canadianlegislation and ISO45001 principles.

Create scalable healthand safety solutionsthatcan be consistentlyapplied across diverseoperations, sites, andwork environments.

Interpret occupational healthand safety legislationacross multiple Canadianjurisdictions and translateregulatory requirementsinto clear guidanceand actionable controls.

Advise leaders andoperational stakeholderson jurisdiction-specificobligations while maintaininga consistent nationalhealth and safetyframework.





Lead hazard andrisk assessments andsupport effective mitigationstrategies using thehierarchy of controls.

Strengthen organizationalsafety capability throughtraining, awareness initiatives, coaching, and clearaccountability for safework practices.

Monitor health andsafety performance usingmetrics, reporting, anddata analysis toidentify trends, emerging risks, andopportunities for continuousimprovement.

Support enterprise-levelrisk management byanticipating emerging hazardsand aligning safetyinitiatives with broaderorganizational priorities.

Work effectively acrossmulti-site and multi-industry environments,including unionized workplaces, to promote consistentand practical safetypractices.

Handle sensitive informationand high-pressuresituations with professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and discretion.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree inHealth and Safety, Occupational Health andSafety, or arelated discipline.

5–7 yearsof progressive healthand safety experience , including demonstratedexperience developing programs, policies, or safetymanagement systems.

Comprehensive knowledgeof occupational healthand safety legislationand regulatory requirementsacross multiple Canadianjurisdictions.

Proven ability tobuild health andsafety policies, procedures, and programs fromthe ground upand adapt themto diverse operationalenvironments.

Strong understanding ofriskassessment, hazard identification, incident management, emergencypreparedness, and thehierarchy of controls.





Experience integrating ISO 45001 or comparable healthand safety managementsystem frameworks intoorganizationalprograms and continuousimprovement initiatives.

Ability to translatecomplex regulatory andtechnical requirementsinto concise, practicalrecommendations for leadersand operational teams.

Experience working acrossmultiple locations, industries, orbusiness environments,ideally including unionizedsettings.

Solid analytical capabilities, including the abilityto work withlarge HR andsafety datasets using Excel, HRIS platforms, and reporting tools .

Ability to identifytrends, validate data, assess enterprise-levelrisks, and useevidence to informsafety decisions andstrategy.

Strong communication, stakeholderengagement, influencing, and consulting skills.

Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and ability tomanage confidential informationand sensitive situations.

CRSP or CHSCcertification is considered anasset.

Strong organizational skillsand the abilityto manage multiplepriorities while supportingstakeholders across acomplex organization.

Benefits

Target hiring rangeof $85,321.60–$106,641.60 , with a maximumof $127,982.40 , depending on marketconditions, internal equity, experience, skills, andqualifications.
