What this job actually is
We're an architectural controls firm. Developers hire us to protect the look and value of their new communities, and we review every home that gets built in them.

As Architectural Coordinator, you'll be the person who decides whether a builder's submission works: plotting the house on the lot, calculating grade elevations, checking the front elevation, materials and colour scheme against the community's guidelines and against what's already going up next door... then telling the builder yes, no, or here's what to change. When the answer is "change it," you'll often sketch the fix yourself.

It's rapid, high-volume, decision-heavy work with real consequences for how Calgary-area neighbourhoods turn out.

To be clear about what it isn't
this is not project architecture, and it's not a path to stamping drawings. If your goal is designing buildings, this isn't your role. If you like drawings, streetscapes, quick judgment calls and a lot of files moving at once, keep reading.

Who we are
E2 + Associates is a small, established architectural design firm in Calgary — the heart of the most active new‑home construction market in North America. We serve clients across Western Canada.

We've been at this for years, but we don't run like an old firm. Recently we've invested heavily in growth: expanding our service area and client base, upgrading our capacity, and building our own software platform through our sister company, Streetscape Real Estate Technologies, a purpose‑built system for architectural controls review. If you like the idea of helping shape the tools you use every day rather than just using whatever you're handed, that's a real part of this job.

Small team, entrepreneurial, collective approach.

Your decisions visibly move the business.

Administration

Keep accurate records of work completed so billing and client records are right

Maintain complete, organized files on all approvals and AC material

Pitch in with the wider team during busy periods — helpdesk tickets, file management, events

You’ll also take part in staff and project meetings, we’re small enough that everyone’s input counts.

What you need

Degree or diploma in architecture,

architectural technology or design from a recognized post-secondary institution — or equivalent hands‑on experience in residential drafting or architectural controls

Proficiency in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD

Familiarity with architectural drawings and residential construction practice

Ability to sketch design solutions freehand

Strong written and verbal communication — you’ll write business correspondence daily and deliver decisions builders won’t always like

Comfort managing many files at once without losing track of any of them

Solid general office software skills, and the instinct to use technology to work faster

Nice to have

Experience in residential land development, homebuilding or architectural controls

Interest in further training or involvement with a Home Builders Association or similar

Comfort in a workplace that changes and adds new tools regularly

Being AI‑forward isn't a requirement, but it's considered an asset — comfort experimenting with AI tools to work smarter and faster is a plus on our team

What's in it for you

$65,000-$75,000 salary, based on experience

23 paid days off a year — 10 vacation days, 9 statutory holidays, 4 company days

Lifestyle and health spending account — yours to spend on what actually matters to you

Team‑building events through the year

A close, highly skilled team that cares about quality, innovation and wellness and a seat where your work is visible

E2 + Associates is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and will provide accommodation at any stage of the hiring process on request.
