Position Summary This is not a traditional dispatch position. As our Centralized Dispatcher, you will serve as the “Control Tower” for our growing fleet, overseeing the daily coordination of 15+ drivers and crews across multiple Atlantic Canada locations. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
You will quickly learn current systems and processes while working in a fast-paced, client-focused, and team-oriented environment where priorities can change rapidly.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Fleet Coordination: Plan and execute daily schedules for a diverse fleet, including luggers, roll-offs, B-trains, and tractor-trailers.
- Asset Optimization: Use the internal Equipment Matrix to match the right driver and equipment to each job.
- Real-Time Routing: Monitor GPS data to identify inefficiencies and make schedule adjustments as needed.

- Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, ensuring clear communication of pickup details, routing changes, and safety requirements.
- Operational Improvement: Track and analyze operational metrics such as wait times and empty miles to improve efficiency.

- Compliance: Uphold safety as a core value by ensuring adherence to all safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a dispatch role within an industrial or heavy-transport environment.
- Geographic Knowledge: Strong understanding of Nova Scotia road networks and industrial areas.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn dispatch and fleet management software.

- Resilience: Ability to manage competing priorities from Sales, Operations, and Drivers while maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions
- Extensive travel throughout Atlantic Canada.
- Combination of office work, customer visits, automotive recycling facilities, warehouses, and outdoor environments.
- Occasional lifting and inspection of automotive parts.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Saturdays when necessary (7:00am - 12:00pm) With Flexibility outside of these hours when necessary
