Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator, Marketing and Communications will support various department functions through copywriting, design and asset production, as well as a variety of administrative tasks. Main responsibilities include writing clear and compelling Museum promotional/social media copy, designing and producing simple collateral materials, graphic assets and short videos, creating and publishing web pages and YouTube page assets, writing and publishing event listings, monitoring and responding to social media queries and Museum reviews, conducting partner outreach, and coordinating press visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Write clear, compelling copy of print and digital materials including brochures, ads, postcards, fact sheets, press releases, media booklets, and program guides, in accordance with the Museum’s style guide.
- Adhering to the Museum brand guidelines, design and deploy assets for the Museum’s Explore e-newsletter, social media posts, campaigns, videos, and signage.
- Assist in the creation (including copywriting and image layout), review,
and ongoing maintenance of Museum webpages for upcoming programming.
- Write copy and headlines for and maintain the Museum’s YouTube page.
- Write and edit responses to visitor queries and complaints across multiple channels.
- Write and maintain event listings for Museum programs and events.
- Ensure consistency of the Museum’s brand and tone of voice in various media across all platforms and channels.
- Ensure messaging and visual content are relevant to both the target audience and brand objectives.
- Engage in partner outreach for upcoming Museum programming, distribute marketing assets to relevant stakeholders, follow up with partners on cross-promotional opportunities, and identify key communities that align with various Museum objectives.
- Disseminate press materials to various stakeholders and coordinate press visits.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all marketing channels.
- Support the development and promotion of the Museum’s podcast, including bi-weekly episode uploads and external partner outreach.
- Support the Director, Marketing and Communications by preparing reports for the Board and its committees, etc.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum university undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, public relations, creative writing, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a marketing professional with a proven track record of producing a range of creative marketing materials.
- Excellent English-language writing and editing skills and robust instincts for deciding on what will be of interest to various stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of a variety of digital platforms including Microsoft 365/Office suite, social media/social media management, project management, graphic design, video editing platforms, and marketing automation. An ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar tools.
- Strong project management and organization skills and the ability to plan and prioritize competing workloads under time pressure.
- Ability to problem solve and identify solutions to challenges.
- Highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours as required.
- Expressed interest in the mandate of the Museum.
The salary range for this position is $50,000–$55,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
