About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Data Architect with deep expertise in the Banking and Financial Services domain. In this role, you will design, build, and oversee our enterprise data strategy, ensuring our data architecture is scalable, secure, and fully aligned with regulatory compliance (such as Basel III/IV, GDPR, and local central banking standards). You will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams to transform complex financial data into a secure, accessible, and high-performance asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Data Strategy: Design and implement scalable data architectures, data lakes, data warehouses, and modern cloud data platforms tailored for banking operations (retail, corporate, and investment banking).
- Domain Alignment: Lead data modeling for core banking functions, including customer 360, transactions, risk management, fraud detection, anti-money laundering (AML), and regulatory reporting.
- Data Governance & Compliance: Establish enterprise data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and lineage tracking to meet stringent banking and financial security regulations.
- Integration & Modernization: Architect real-time streaming and batch data pipelines connecting legacy core banking mainframes to up-to-date cloud/hybrid environments.
- Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers, BI Teams,
Security Officers, and Business Stakeholders to deliver reliable and optimized data solutions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5+ years focusing specifically as a Data Architect within the Banking / Financial Services sector.
- Core Banking & Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of core banking products, financial data models (e.g., FSLDM - Financial Services Logical Data Model), risk analytics, and compliance frameworks.
- Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in data modeling (Dimensional and Relational, Kimball/Inmon methodologies).
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Data Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of Big Data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop) and modern data stack tools (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
- Familiarity with database technologies (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, NoSQL).
- Governance Tools: Experience implementing data catalog, governance, and master data management (MDM) tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Data Engineer).
- Experience transitioning legacy monolithic banking systems to modern cloud architectures.
