ALNA Packaging is a Canadian supplier of aluminum cans and ends to beverage producers across Canada and select international markets. We provide flexible packaging solutions supported by responsive service, inventory planning and industry expertise.
Founded in 2018, ALNA has supported customers through significant market disruption, including port strikes, freight volatility and changing tariffs. Our customers range from global beverage brands to independent breweries and co-packers.
As ALNA enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced commercial leader to accelerate profitable growth, strengthen sales execution and expand strategic customer relationships.
The Opportunity The Director, Commercial Growth & Strategic Accounts will lead ALNA’s day-to-day commercial execution and provide consistent leadership to the sales team. This role combines people leadership, strategic account development and direct ownership of selected national and high-value opportunities.
The successful candidate will translate commercial priorities into measurable action, strengthen pipeline and forecasting discipline, and work cross-functionally to deliver profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and hold the sales team accountable for agreed revenue, volume, margin and activity objectives.
- Translate ALNA’s commercial strategy into transparent account priorities, territory plans and execution timelines.
- Own selected national and strategic accounts while supporting team members on complex opportunities.
- Identify and secure high-value beverage-packaging customers through established industry relationships and disciplined prospecting.
- Build senior relationships with decision-makers in procurement, operations, supply chain and executive leadership.
- Develop account plans for priority prospects and customers, informed by customer needs, market trends, competitor activity and commercial risk.
- Lead major proposals, pricing discussions, RFPs, contract negotiations and renewals.
- Maintain a qualified pipeline, accurate forecasts and clear next steps across the sales team.
- Establish consistent CRM standards, reporting cadence and performance visibility.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to protect margin, evaluate commercial terms and support sound pricing decisions.
- Partner with Logistics, Quality and Operations to address customer commitments and significant service issues.
- Monitor customer inventory commitments, forecast changes and slow-moving or obsolete stock risk.
- Lead regular business reviews with strategic customers and represent ALNA at meetings, plant visits, conferences and industry events.
- Provide the President with clear reporting on performance, pipeline, commercial risks and required decisions.

Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Approximately 8-12 years of progressive commercial, key-account or business-development experience in packaging, ideally aluminum beverage packaging.
- Demonstrated success leading sales execution and securing or growing large, complex accounts.
- Experience coaching or leading sales professionals and establishing clear performance expectations.
- Robust understanding of pricing, margin, packaging specifications, forecasting, logistics and inventory planning.
- Experience negotiating customer contracts, volume commitments, RFPs and supply agreements.
- Strong financial judgment and understanding of revenue, gross profit and account profitability.
- Strong CRM discipline and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s licence and passport, with the ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred
- Direct experience selling aluminum cans, can ends or closely related rigid-packaging products.
- Established relationships with beverage manufacturers, co-packers, breweries and packaging decision-makers.
- Experience with a major can manufacturer, packaging distributor or broker.
- Post-secondary education; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Compensation and Benefits
ALNA offers a competitive compensation package based on experience, industry relationships and demonstrated commercial success, including:
- Base salary of C$140,000-C$170,000, depending on relevant aluminum-packaging experience, industry relationships and leadership experience, plus a performance-based incentive.
