For those who dream big and push boundaries on the ground and in the stars to change the world for the better, we’ll take you there.We’re on the hunt for a Buyer / Planner on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.RoleResponsible for the material requirement planning, negotiation and purchasing of material and services that are simple in nature, with due consideration of cost, quality and delivery within the specified limits and in accordance with the signing levels identified. Capable of procuring items included in overhead costs, building services, capital expenses and standard items and components available on the commercial, military and space market. Receives specific assignments with periodic supervision.TasksAnalyze MRP messages and take appropriate actionsNegotiate prices and terms with suppliersAnalyze received quotes and place purchase orders within established limits of authorityPerform follow-up activities on purchase order and shipment tracking information to ensure on‑time deliveriesProactively report material availability issuesPrepare and communicate procurement plans or forecasts to suppliersUnderstand market trends of assigned commoditiesResolve receiving and invoicing discrepanciesReview and implement engineering change notices for items included in the assigned commoditiesSupport Sales and Engineering inquiries on material availability and costsMonitor and maintain the Supply Chain related Item Master Data for items included in the assigned commoditiesContribute to process improvement and lean initiatives related to items included in assigned commoditiesAssist with new supplier development and qualificationReview monthly suppliers performance and define corrective action plan if requiredRepresent the company in meetings with sales representatives of current/future suppliersRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a business‑related areaPMAC enrollment or certification in progress or complete will be considered as an asset2 years of relevant experienceA combination of other pertinent education/experience could be consideredSome understanding of Export Control RegulationsExperience in procurement of electronic componentsDemonstrate good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changeSense of urgencyBasic problem solving and decision makingAccountability and responsibilityBasic analytical and negotiating skillsGood communication skillsCustomer focus (internal and external)Fluent in French and English (verbal and written).Comments/Special ConsiderationsSuccessful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.Perks StatementMDA provides competitive compensation and benefits packages for its employees at all locations.
