**Sanitation Worker**
**Job Description**
The Sanitation Worker cleans and sanitizes production equipment and facility areas in a food manufacturing environment, strictly following established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

This role executes the Master Sanitation Schedule, supports production lines by maintaining a clean and protected workspace, and operates specialized cleaning equipment while adhering to food safety, GMP, and audit standards.
**Responsibilities**
Clean and sanitize production equipment and facility areas in accordance with detailed SSOPs.

Execute the Master Sanitation Schedule, including daily cleaning, weekly tasks, and periodic deep-clean activities.

Support production lines by cleaning tools, equipment, and surrounding work areas to maintain consistent sanitation standards.

Remove waste and debris from production and packaging areas to ensure a clean and organized environment.

Maintain sanitation supplies by replenishing chemicals, tools, and materials as needed.

Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and COP (clean-out-of-place) systems safely and effectively.

Follow food safety and GMP protocols at all times to ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements, including SQF standards.

Apply GMP/Food Safety and HACCP training in daily tasks to prevent contamination and ensure product safety.

Use lockout procedures when required to safely clean and sanitize equipment.

Adhere to WHMIS guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and materials.

Comply with all site rules in a GMP environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment.

Work collaboratively with production and general labor teams in a manufacturing setting to support operational efficiency.

Perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, and reaching throughout the shift.

Handle repetitive physical motions safely while maintaining high sanitation standards.
**Essential Skills**
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.

Experience supporting production lines through cleaning, general labor, or packaging activities.

Ability to clean and sanitize production equipment and facility areas following documented procedures.

Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety principles.
HACCP training and the ability to apply hazard analysis and critical control point concepts in sanitation tasks.

Lockout training and the ability to follow lockout procedures when cleaning equipment.
WHMIS training and the ability to safely handle and use cleaning chemicals.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and COP (clean-out-of-place) systems.

Capability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required.

High level of physical endurance, including the ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, crouch, squat, and reach above shoulder and below waist level.

Manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and cleaning tasks efficiently.





Comfort working in a structured GMP environment with strict hygiene and safety protocols.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Background in general production, packaging, or general labor within a manufacturing setting.

Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety audit standards.

Experience working in a food facility, particularly environments handling allergens such as peanuts.

Ability to follow detailed schedules and procedures for daily, weekly, and deep-clean tasks.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high sanitation and safety standards.

Willingness to work collaboratively with a large production workforce.

**Work Environment**
This role is based in a manufacturing food facility that operates as a peanut-processing environment and follows strict GMP standards.

You will work alongside a large production team in a busy, structured setting with approximately 150 production workers.

The environment includes consistent exposure to food ingredients and cleaning chemicals, and you will be expected to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout your shift.

Personal protective equipment is required, including hair nets, smocks, safety shoes, and ear protection, to maintain both safety and hygiene standards.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Scarborough, ON.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
