This is a unique opportunity to influence AWS direction, as you own and build some of our next generation Observability systems - including our event streaming and big data processing systems that analyze petabytes each day.

You will be involved in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, building a positive team culture and leading a team of experienced engineers to iteratively execute and deliver at a rapid pace.

You will be connecting with customers on a regular basis, building roadmaps for the team, collaborating with the PM team and other sister teams, providing regular status updates to senior execs and demonstrating high level of creativity and right judgement.

Key job responsibilities
* Manage a team of software developers to deliver projects on schedule with the highest industry quality and a high degree of innovation.
* Build scalable log event streaming and telemetry platform to drive agentic operations, internal and customer observability.
* Stay close to the technology, remain connected to the engineering details, make the right trade-offs, and be deeply customer-centric.
* Instill best practices for software development, testing, and documentation and implement process improvements.




* Partner with product management and cross-functional teams to build and ship technical solutions for desired user experience across a broad range of products.
* Drive observability across edge services, spanning Cloud

Front, AGA, WAF and Shield that together form the Edge application.
A day in the life
The Edge Observability team is highly collaborative.

We are responsible for critical work streams in nearly every Cloud

Front, AGA, WAF, and Shield feature launch.

You will work closely with peers and stakeholders across AWS teams while independently owning log event streaming sub-service, telemetry, internal visibility and customer observability.

You own short and long-term planning for your area and team, aligning work with growth opportunities for your engineers.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of recent and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams




Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below.

As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
