www.steelesgroup.com www.fmicanada.com The OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Edmonton team.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for helping ensure our terminal, dock, fleet and driver operations run safely, efficiently and consistently every day.

The successful candidate will be comfortable leading from the floor, solving problems in real time, developing drivers and dock employees, managing fleet and compliance requirements, and working closely with dispatch, customer service and the Terminal Manager to deliver excellent service to our customers.

What You’ll Be Responsible ForDock Operations

- Plan, supervise and prioritize daily shipping, receiving, loading, unloading and cross-dock activities.
- Organize the dock floor and trailer flow to maximize available capacity and productivity.
- Coordinate with dispatch to ensure the right trailers and equipment are available when required.
- Ensure inbound and outbound freight is properly manifested and handled.
- Maintain freight dimension-capture and dock-audit compliance.
- Identify operational risks and service issues and work quickly with internal teams to resolve them.
- Support opportunities to grow recurring cross-dock business.

Fleet Management

- Monitor fleet activity through ELD and fleet-management systems.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs with approved vendors.
- Monitor HOS and DVIR compliance and coach drivers where required.
- Conduct visual inspections of company equipment.
- Maintain visibility of trailer locations and equipment utilization.
- Track and report fleet KPIs including mileage, safe miles, revenue per kilometre and cost per kilometre.

Driver Leadership

- Support the recruitment, qualification, onboarding and training of current drivers.
- Coach drivers on safety,



service expectations, HOS, DVIR and company procedures.
- Monitor recurring training and certification requirements.
- Support dispatch in resolving driver performance and service-execution issues.
- Build positive, professional relationships with our driver team.

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Champion Steele’s health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, National Safety Code requirements and applicable provincial transportation regulations.
- Support ongoing HSE initiatives across the organization.
- Investigate incidents involving people, vehicles, equipment and freight.
- Assist with corrective actions, claims and OS&D; resolution.

People Leadership

- Lead and supervise dock employees, contractors and agency personnel.
- Set daily priorities and expectations.
- Coach and motivate team members to achieve operational goals.
- Help remove roadblocks that interfere with safe, efficient service execution.
- Support the development of a high-accountability, team-oriented workplace.

Communication & Reporting

- Maintain clear communication between the dock, drivers, dispatch, customer service and management.
- Escalate risks and service issues quickly and help develop practical solutions.
- Track and report terminal performance metrics.
- Complete daily operational and capacity reporting.
- Track cross-dock activity and revenue.
- Support the Terminal Manager with monthly operational performance reporting.

This Is a Hands-On Operations RoleOur Operations Supervisor is expected to be visible and engaged in the operation. From time to time, that may mean operating a forklift, assisting with freight movement or load transfers, and helping the team wherever required to keep the dock moving safely and efficiently. What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of transportation, trucking, terminal or logistics operations experience preferred.
- Previous experience leading a small team of front-line employees.
- Strong knowledge of dock, LTL or pickup-and-delivery operations.
- Experience with fleet safety,



driver compliance and transportation regulations.
- Familiarity with National Safety Code and Alberta transportation requirements.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods training.
- Forklift certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- A strong customer-service and operational mindset.
- Comfort holding people accountable while building positive working relationships.
- Experience using TMS, WMS, ELD or fleet-management systems is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Previous involvement in operating budgets or operational financial performance is an asset.
- Post-secondary education is preferred; equivalent transportation experience will also be considered.

- Schedule & LocationLocation: Edmonton, Alberta Schedule: Monday to Friday, typically 8–10-hour shifts, available for afterhours calls as required.
