Products must meet client needs in the most cost-effective and timely manner, while maintaining a high level of quality and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate customer’s needs:Research & planning based on available informationPrepare list of missing requirementsCollaborate with suppliers to propose and specify cost-effective material and buyout solutions (e.G., lighting, hardware, security systems).Participate in design meetings, conference calls and charrettesSelect materials and finishes that align with design intent, functionality, and budget.Manage time and deliverables to meet deadlines and stay within allocated project hours.Identify and escalate conflicting or erroneous information in accordance with project protocolsPrepare production drawing documentation & provide technical support for productionTranslate project requirements into manufacturable solutions using research, consultation, and company best practices.Prepare detailed, assembly, and arrangement drawings in accordance with drafting standards.Perform comprehensive design and detailing, including welding, tolerances, materials, machining, heat treatment, stress relief, and sizing.Develop detailed layouts to confirm dimensions and verify clearances.Review internal and vendor drawings to ensure consistency, correct interfaces, and eliminate interferences.Produce accurate bills of materials and maintain basic material data.Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency,



and proper documentation standards.Contribute innovative ideas to improve product design and assembly processes.Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize file creation and storage practices.Stay current with advancements in CAD software.Specify and procure required equipment.Follow up with productionPrepare supporting documentation for estimating, purchasing, and installation (e.G., construction details, installation instructions).Coordinate with Project Management, Sales, and Production teams to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams on detailing and problem-solving.Perform value engineering by proposing cost-effective alternatives that maintain design intent and functionality.Other tasksAdhere to company policies, procedures, and quality assurance/quality control standards.Provide technical support to Sales and Design, and guide the shop during the build of new products.Maintain an organized physical and virtual sample library.Conduct site visits and equipment inspections to investigate issues, failures, and defects.Perform administrative duties, including report writing and material purchase approvals.Qualifications & SkillsDEC or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field2+ years in in mechanical design and draftingSpecialization in creative thinking and technical developmentExperience in manufacturing industryExperience with custom fabricationSuperior understanding of design, engineering, manufacturing and installation methodologiesSolidworks (advanced knowledge).
