Our 6 South nurses are set up for success and go through a comprehensive onsite orientation program, led by experienced health care professionals and educators. As a member of the multidiscipline healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the standards of practice for Registered Nurses.

Nurses on 6 South practice in both the ward and step down unit setting. In partnership with the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at HGH, 6 South provides opportunities to grow your skills and expertise and prides itself on a fast, friendly and welcoming environment with an emphasis on the wellbeing and mentorship of our nurses.

- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Step down course,



ECG monitoring education and experience recommended
- Recent (within the last two years) acute surgical nursing experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Nursing Care Planning process
- Demonstrated ability to utilize problem solving and critical thinking techniques effectively in a general surgery/orthopedic/trauma setting
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high turnover environment
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment, problem identification and problem solving
- Evidence of commitment to qualified practice and ongoing professional development
