Senior Software Engineer – Java, Cloud & Distributed Systems

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team in Vancouver and play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-performance, cloud-ready backend solutions.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with robust Java, Spring, gRPC, Kubernetes, CI/CD, SQL, and cloud experience. You will contribute to architecture and design decisions, mentor other engineers, and help build the next generation of decisioning capabilities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional and external teams, and taking ownership of technical deliverables from design through production.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Java.
- Build applications using Spring, gRPC, and related Java frameworks.
- Own technical assets and assigned workstreams, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and production readiness.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand requirements and drive architecture and technical design discussions.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.
- Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployments.
- Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Participate in code reviews and promote coding standards, best practices, and clean architecture.
- Develop automated deployment, testing, and validation processes to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex production and application issues and provide effective technical solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps,



product, and other engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

- Strong hands-on programming experience with Java.
- Deep knowledge of Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
- Strong experience with gRPC and backend service development.
- Experience developing high-performance and scalable applications.
- Strong knowledge of unit testing and mocking frameworks, including:
- JUnit
- Mockito
- EasyMock
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience working with Oracle databases.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as REST Assured and Selenium WebDriver.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins.
- Experience with one or more cloud platforms:
- AWS
- Microsoft Azure
- Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting business-driven timelines.
- Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
