The Waterloo Region District School Board invites applications from candidates who are members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and possess a current (2026) Certificate of Qualification and are qualified to teach International Language Credit Courses (Serbian). The classes are regularly 3.75 hours per week on Saturdays. The hourly rate of pay is currently $62.71/hour.

This program is currently delivered through a virtual platform with a possible shift to in-person at Forest Heights CI. Hours of work are from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm.

Responsibilities

- Deliver the secondary school international language curriculum in a virtual classroom
- Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages gr. 9-12: and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all students
- Identifying students individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including small group, individual, and whole class learning experiences
- Evaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students and parents
- Creating annual reports of students performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvement
- Ensuring a safe academic workplace conducive to learning in class and online
- Promoting positive attitudes towards, and encouraging enthusiasm for language learning
- Participating in staff meetings, instructor training workshops
- Utilize the Virtual Learning Environment D2L in online teaching
- Engage students in communicative, real life, task-based language activities which emphasize the 3 strands of oral, reading and writing
- Other duties as required





Minimum Requirements

- Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered)
- Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language
- Demonstrable evidence of instructing in the credit language
- A certification in language instruction from an accredited College or University would be an asset

Hours of Work: From 8:45 am until 12:30pm, as soon as possible to June 30, 2027.
