THE OPPORTUNITY The Six Sigma Black Belt is a process improvement specialist within the Operations team, responsible for leading and supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives across Dainty Foods.
Using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and data-driven problem solving, this role will improve productivity, quality, efficiency, cost, safety, and customer service. The Black Belt works cross-functionally with employees, supervisors, managers, and subject matter experts to solve problems and deliver sustainable results. This is not a people leadership role. Success comes through technical expertise, collaboration, coaching, facilitation, and influence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, prioritize, and quantify Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects from problem identification through implementation and sustainment.
- Apply DMAIC, DMADV, PDCA, Lean, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Facilitate root cause analysis, problem-solving sessions, and action planning.
- Analyze data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop business cases and assess project benefits, risks, and resources.
- Develop control plans to ensure improvements are sustained.
- Track project progress, results, and business benefits.
- Coach employees and project teams on Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving tools.
- Support supervisors through Six Sigma training and certification.
- Lead change management and employee engagement during implementation.
- Lead the Operations Continuous Improvement project pipeline and communicate results to key stakeholders.
- Participate as an active member of the leadership team.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferred.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification required.
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, or related field.
- PMP designation is an asset.
- Food manufacturing or CPG experience is an asset.
- Proven experience leading Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma projects.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively without direct authority.
- Strong coaching and knowledge-transfer skills.
