Duties

In the appointment of Teaching Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

- Assist with marking exams, assignments, helping with securing guest speakers, and hosting online office hours to provide clarification on assignments and course content.
- Hosting class-based online group activities.
- Support overall course delivery and student engagement.
- You will report directly to your supervisor Dr. Holly McKenzie.

Qualifications: (Skills and Abilities)

- PhD-level or Master’s level graduate student.
- Solid background knowledge of social justice and health equity and the theories that underpin the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada 2.0 (2025) Category 9: Health Equity and Social Justice (i.e. intersectionality, anticolonialism, antiracism, Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer theorizing, queer theory, and Indigenous and decolonizing theories).
- Research experience on social justice and health equity related projects, and/or community-based experience in social justice and health equity related fields.
- Prior experience as a TA.

Applicants without a strong background in social justice and health equity public health practice or research will not be considered.
