Who We’re Looking For
We’re hiring a full-time Technical Sales Manager & Pre-Construction Specialist – Firestopping in Calgary, AB. This is a senior seat at the front end of our commercial work: reading the drawings, finding the problems before the field does, pricing the job properly, and building the relationships that get us invited back for the next one.
You’ll be the person general contractors, consultants and manufacturers call when an assembly doesn’t have an obvious answer, and the person who catches the detail on paper that would otherwise become an expensive conversation on site. If you know passive fire protection deeply and you like being the most knowledgeable person in the room without acting like it, keep reading.
Who We Are
Everyone wants to be the next greatest thing, even us. We are a spray foam company who became a full-service insulation company who became a thermal company who became a roofing company who became a concrete lifting company and it’s not going to stop there. On our journey, we have been united by one common vision, we want to go beyond what has been done before in the construction world with people we like to be around.
Beyond wants to install and build things that make a difference in people’s lives and we want to have fun while doing it.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Lead estimating for complex commercial firestopping opportunities
- Review drawings, specifications, life-safety requirements and tender documents
- Complete detailed takeoffs, pricing and proposal development
- Identify appropriate tested and listed firestop systems
- Identify situations requiring engineering judgments or additional technical review
- Work with manufacturers and other technical resources to develop solutions
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and technical discussions
Business Development & Relationships
- Work with general contractors, consultants and project teams to identify firestopping requirements early
- Help customers understand scope, constructability and potential challenges before work begins
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, consultants, manufacturers and industry partners
- Identify new project and business development opportunities
- Support tender strategy and contract negotiations
Technical Leadership & Handoff
- Provide technical support to Beyond’s estimating, project management and field teams
- Assist with project handoff from estimating and pre-construction into operations
- Maintain and improve estimating assemblies, historical costing and technical resources
- Stay current with changes in tested systems, manufacturers, codes and industry practices
Qualifications
- Significant experience in commercial firestopping and passive fire protection
- Advanced knowledge of firestop systems, tested assemblies and installation requirements
- Firestopping estimating experience
- Strong ability to interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications
- Experience with complex commercial and institutional construction
- Strong understanding of project specifications, submittals and documentation requirements
- The ability to identify technical issues before they become field problems
- Robust communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence participating in technical conversations with contractors, consultants, manufacturers and other construction professionals
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project risk and profitability
Considered an Asset
- FCIA involvement, membership or training
- Manufacturer certifications and technical training
- Experience developing or supporting engineering judgments
- Familiarity with third-party firestop inspection requirements
- Other relevant firestop industry programs
What Makes This Role Different
We’re not simply looking for someone to price drawings. We’re looking for someone who understands firestopping deeply enough to contribute before construction begins — identifying challenges, developing solutions, supporting design and specification conversations, and helping Beyond pursue the right opportunities instead of all of them.
Technical expertise, commercial thinking and relationship building. Most people bring one or two. If you bring all three, this is a rare seat.
What We Offer
Compensation range of $90,000–$120,000 per year, based on industry experience, plus a bonus structure to be negotiated. We offer a number of extra benefits as listed below, but they may be subject to a probationary waiting period.
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Company events
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
