Location: Richmond Hill, OntarioPosition Type: Part-time, sporadic/as-neededIdeal Candidate: College or university student studying Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related fieldWe are looking for a caring, responsible, and dependable babysitter to provide in-home care for our children when they are unwell and unable to attend daycare.This is a sporadic, as-needed position rather than a regular weekly schedule. Care may be required on short notice when one of our children is sick, so flexibility and availability during weekdays are important.We have either a 1-year-old or a 3-year-old requiring care, depending on who is ill.ResponsibilitiesFor our 1-year-old:
- Provide attentive and nurturing care
- Diaper changes and personal hygiene
- Prepare and provide meals/snacks and age-appropriate feeding
- Put child down for their nap and monitor during rest time
- Engage in age-appropriate developmental activities, including reading, play, music, and sensory activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment
- Follow parents’ instructions regarding routines, meals, naps, and care
For our 3-year-old:
- Provide attentive and nurturing care
- Support with toileting as needed, including wiping after bowel movements
- Prepare and provide snacks/meals
- Put child down for their nap and monitor during rest time
- Engage in developmentally appropriate activities, including reading, crafts, imaginative play, and other age-appropriate activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating setting
Light HousekeepingDuring the child’s approximately 2-hour nap period, responsibilities may include light household tidying related to the children, such as:
- Cleaning up after meals/snacks
- Washing children’s dishes
- Tidying toys and play areas
- Light sweeping/vacuuming in areas used by the children
- Folding children’s laundry or other light child-related household tasks
The primary responsibility is always the care and supervision of the child. Housekeeping duties are light and should only be completed while the child is safely sleeping or otherwise does not require active supervision.Ideal CandidateWe are especially interested in someone who:
- Is currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related college/university program
- Has experience caring for infants and/or preschool-aged children
- Is patient, warm, nurturing, and genuinely enjoys working with young children
- Understands age-appropriate child development and activities
- Is reliable, responsible, and comfortable caring for a child independently
- Is comfortable providing care to a child who is mildly ill and unable to attend daycare
- Can follow parents’ instructions and maintain established routines
- Has strong communication skills and can provide updates to parents throughout the day
- Has a current CPR/First Aid certification or is willing to obtain one
- Can provide references and, ideally, a police/vulnerable sector check
ScheduleThis is a sporadic/as-needed position. There is no guaranteed number of hours per week.Care will generally be needed during daytime weekday hours when a child is sick and cannot attend daycare. Advance notice may not always be possible, so candidates who have a flexible school schedule or availability during weekdays are ideal.Compensation: $20-22/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.If you are an ECE student looking for flexible, occasional childcare work and enjoy spending time with young children, we would love to hear from you!(Part-Time, Live-Out)For morning, day
