Yard Labourer/Equipment Operator

Basic Function

The Yard Labourer / Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized yard environment while operating various types of heavy equipment to support daily operations. This role involves loading and unloading materials, conducting equipment inspections, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring compliance with company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and loaders for loading/unloading

· Load, unload, move, and stock materials, equipment, and supplies within the yard

· Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair requirements

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, work areas, and storage locations

· Assist with inventory control, material tracking, and yard logistics

· Support receiving and shipping activities, including preparing orders and securing loads

· Follow company safety procedures, policies, and environmental regulations

· Direct vehicle traffic and assist customers, truck drivers, and contractors as needed

· Complete required paperwork accurately

· Other duties as required

Work Contacts

Maintains close working relationships with Shipper/Receiver, Shop Manager, Operations Manager, and yard staff. Represents the company to external clients, partners, and industry associations.

Work Environment





This role operates across office, yard and field environments and may be exposed to adverse weather conditions. Physical effort includes medium to heavy manual labor and requires the individual to be fit for duty. Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg). This position is full-time Monday to Friday with occasional weekends required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

· Forklift experience, additional equipment experience considered an asset

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license

· Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures

· Organizational skills, ability to prioritize

· Ability to follow direction

· Strong verbal and written English communication skills

· Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is an asset

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
