Distribution Maintenance Analyst (Nanaimo)

Annual salary: $ 78,000.00 - 83,900.00
What you'll do
1. Prepares detailed work plans in support of the delivery of the annual Distribution O&M; and Capital investment plans by
creating and coordinating the preparation of work packages and the associated work orders, plans the job requirements (e.
g., estimates and material requirements in preparation for budgets) based on technical knowledge of the distribution
standards, procedures and field execution practices. Allocates the work to the delivery partners based on business rules
and annual budgets. Schedules the work to meet the requirements of the program.
2. Supports contract management in the preparation of contracts by providing job requirements specifications, including
scope, schedule, milestones and reporting requirements. Provides technical advice to contract managers and field
inspectors regarding the verification of work completed to ensure BCH standards and work completion procedures are met.
Reviews work for quality and adherence to standards, including completed work packages, which assists contract
managers in the resolution of non-conformance and invoice issues.
3. Works closely with and supports program managers, asset managers, contract managers and operations support staff in
the ongoing management of the work by progressing the work from initiation through completion and providing analytical
support to identify work statuses, unit costs, progress and issues with the delivery of the work (e.g., variance analysis).

Monitors the quality of data required to effectively process the work and accurately account for the changes to BCH
assets; data typically sits in enterprise and stand-alone software applications. Identifies data quality issues, recommends
corrective action plans to program management, executes assigned corrective action plans and expedites the execution of
corrective action plans.
5. Assists managers with annual work plan preparations, delivery strategies and materials forecasting by providing
information regarding the number of units and standard unit cost.
6. Supports the identification and resolution of issues related to the processing of work by establishing and maintaining
relationships with delivery partners and providing them with expertise on the standards and systems utilized to process
work.
7. Provides formal and informal “how to” support to delivery partners working with the enterprise and stand-alone software
applications used for managing the work.
8. Liaises with stakeholders regarding distribution maintenance and capital asset replacement programs by fielding ad-hoc
requests under the guidance of program management.
9. Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
- Certificate in a related technical field of study (as such Power Engineering – General Program, Electrical Foundation); plus
two (2) years of cumulative experience in the areas of distribution maintenance, program management, electrical
distribution design or field line work execution maintenance planning, program administration, purchasing, tendering and
work contract administration
- Internal BC Hydro Distribution Field Inspection (DFI) modules considered an asset.
OR
- Certificate in Business Administration from a recognized institution or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI); plus Electric Utility Fundamentals course; plus three (3) years of
experience in the areas of distribution maintenance, program management, electrical distribution design or field line work
execution maintenance planning, program administration, purchasing, tendering and work contract administration with min.
two (2) years experience in the areas of distribution maintenance,
electrical distribution design or field line work execution
maintenance planning.
- Internal BC Hydro Distribution Field Inspection (DFI) modules to be completed within one (1) year of hire.
- Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's licence.

- The primary work location for this position will be based in our Nanaimo, BC headquarters.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a normal office workplace. May require regular field trips to remote areas (the amount of field trips varies
according to district) to support work planning and coordination activities with exposure to varying weather conditions when
working in the field. May occasionally move heavy paint cans and boxes of computer equipment (varies according to
district).
- This position involves assignment of districts for support of delivery of work from start to finish. The successful candidate
needs to be a self-starter that can initiate investigation, tracking, monitoring and following up on work delivery by quarter. To
support work delivery the candidate will be required to be out in the field as required and deal directly with all levels of
delivery partners including field crews, contractors, contract managers, project/program managers, and regional foremen.
Goal is to be out in each district at least once per quarter however this varies between regions.
- Inspector Certification would be an asset.
