Operations Manager

Reports To: President
Location: Saskatoon, SK, with province-wide travel
Schedule: Full-time; day trips and periodic overnight travel as required
Employment Type: Full-time

Company Overview:

Our organization is dedicated to creating meaningful training opportunities that help people develop practical skills, explore careers in the skilled trades, and strengthen communities across Saskatchewan. We deliver trades training programs throughout the province, combining hands-on construction knowledge with the logistics and coordination needed to run a program successfully from start to finish.

Job Summary:

This role gives the President confidence that trades training programs are being mobilized, supported, and completed properly across every location, and that issues on the ground are caught and resolved before they affect instructors, trainees, or client relationships.

We are looking for a practical, dependable, and highly organized Operations Manager to support the delivery of trades training programs throughout Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate brings experience as a foreman, superintendent, construction supervisor, or similar hands-on leadership role, and understands what it takes to coordinate people, tools, materials, equipment, and schedules. While instructors are responsible for delivering the training, this role is responsible for the operational support needed to do their jobs effectively, someone who sees what needs to be done, takes ownership, and gets it done.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery Oversight

- Accountable for the operational execution of trades training programs from preparation through completion, working with instructors and administrative staff to ensure each program is properly mobilized and supported.
- Act as the operational eyes and ears on the ground for every program.

Instructor Support & Issue Resolution

- Support and coach instructors throughout program delivery, and resolve operational issues as they arise so instructors can stay focused on course content, instruction, and trainee supervision.

- Keep programs running effectively without requiring direct President involvement in day-to-day operations.

Inventory, Equipment & Resource Planning

- Manage company inventory and maintain an accurate understanding of what tools, materials, PPE, and supplies are available, communicating with administrative staff on what needs to be ordered and when.
- Organize, load, and pack company trailers with what's required for each program, and maintain company trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment with a high level of care and accountability.

Mobilization & Program Kick-Off

- Mobilize equipment and materials to training locations, assist with setting up training spaces and job sites, and attend program kick-offs to ensure instructors have what they need for a successful start.

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, inventory systems, and equipment organization across the program portfolio.

Program Support Materials

- When required, assist with program orientation or introductory presentations using pre-developed materials; comfort presenting a pre-developed PowerPoint is an asset but not required.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a foreman, superintendent, construction supervisor, site supervisor, project coordinator, or similar operational leadership role is strongly preferred.
- Experience in carpentry, general construction, or a specialized skilled trade is considered a strong asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and comfortable driving a company truck and towing a trailer.
- Must be based in or near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
- Must be available for day trips throughout Saskatchewan, as well as periodic overnight travel when required.

Core Competencies

- Experience leading crews, coordinating job sites, or overseeing construction projects.
- Solid critical thinker and practical problem solver who anticipates what will be needed rather than waiting to be told.
- Naturally takes ownership of equipment, vehicles, tools, and workspaces.
- Organized and comfortable managing several moving pieces at once.
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with instructors, administration, management, clients, and community contacts.
- Comfortable making decisions and solving problems when plans change, and willing to pitch in wherever needed.
- Takes pride in representing the employer professionally while working in different communities and locations.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation: based on experience.
- Meaningful impact: help expand skilled trades training throughout the province.
- Collaborative environment: a supportive team where initiative and practical experience are valued.
- Varied role: combines construction knowledge, logistics, leadership, and problem-solving.
- Travel covered: paid travel, mileage reimbursement, and expenses when required.
- Skilled growth: opportunities to grow as the organization continues to expand.
