Senior Care Aide – Private In-Home Support
We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Care Aides to provide private, in-home support to a senior individual in a welcoming home environment.
This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting seniors and takes pride in providing respectful, attentive, and consistent care. The ideal candidate will be patient, reliable, kind, and comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with family members and other care professionals.
Previous experience working with individuals with dementia is required. Candidates must have a minimum of one year of hands-on dementia care experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respectful and compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Assist with activities of daily living while encouraging independence and dignity wherever possible.
- Provide support and supervision for an individual living with dementia.
- Prepare light, nutritious meals and provide assistance with eating and hydration when required.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with basic health and wellness monitoring as directed.
- Offer companionship, conversation, and meaningful engagement throughout the day.
- Assist with walking, transfers, and other mobility needs as appropriate.
- Support participation in daily routines, activities, appointments, and outings when required.
- Complete light housekeeping and household tasks related to the individual's care, helping to maintain a clean, secure, and comfortable environment.
- Observe and communicate changes in mood, behaviour, mobility, appetite, sleep, or overall well-being.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of care provided and relevant observations.
- Follow established care plans and instructions from family members, nursing staff, and other professionals.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively with family members and the broader care team to provide consistent support.
- Provide calm, patient, and reassuring support during moments of confusion, anxiety, or changes associated with dementia.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience providing care to individuals with dementia is required.
- Previous experience in private home care, senior care, hospice, residential care, or disability support is an asset.
- Strong understanding of the needs and behaviours associated with dementia.
- Experience providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and compassionate in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and comfortable working independently in a private home.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy and dignity of the individual and family.
- Care Aide, Health Care Assistant, nursing, or related certification is an asset.
Position & Availability
- Full-time position
- Approximately 3–5 shifts per week
- 8-12 hour shifts
- Weekend, Evening and Overnight availability is required – candidates must be available to work at least one weekend day each week.
