About NGQ Construction

NGQ Construction is a growing framing contractor specializing primarily in commercial/residential production framing, working alongside builders and general contractors on the construction of single-family homes, townhomes and multi-unit residential projects.

In addition to our larger framing projects, NGQ Construction also completes select residential projects including decks, fences, sheds and other exterior construction.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced framer who is ready for more responsibility and wants the opportunity to grow with the company.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Lead Hand Framer with the potential and ambition to move into a Foreman position in the near future.

Simply put, we're looking for someone who is ready to lead on the tools now and grow into running crews/projects as a Foreman.

This isn't simply a framing position.

We're looking for someone who can work alongside the crew, help keep production moving, solve problems on site and gradually take greater responsibility for managing crews and projects.

The right person will be someone who takes pride in their work, understands the pace and expectations of production framing, and wants to build a long-term leadership role within NGQ Construction.

Responsibilities

As Lead Hand, you will work closely with NGQ's Foreman/ownership and framing crews to:

- Lead by example while remaining actively involved on the tools
- Assist with the framing of single-family homes, townhomes and other residential structures
- Read and interpret construction drawings and framing plans
- Help organize daily crew activities and priorities

- Keep work progressing efficiently and according to schedule
- Maintain NGQ's expectations for workmanship and quality
- Identify and address site issues before they become larger problems
- Help train and support less-experienced crew members
- Communicate effectively with the Foreman, crew members and management
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe job site
- Assist with material planning and site organization
- Take increasing responsibility for crew and site management as experience with NGQ develops

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who already has a strong framing background and is ready to take the next step in their career.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong residential framing experience
- Experience with production framing, subdivisions and/or townhome construction
- Strong understanding of framing methods and construction sequencing
- Ability to confidently read plans and drawings
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on site
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- A positive, accountable attitude
- The ability to lead and earn the respect of a crew
- Strong attention to quality while maintaining production expectations
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to job sites throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo area and surrounding communities

- A strong commitment to job-site safety

Previous Lead Hand or Foreman experience is an asset, but we're equally interested in an experienced framer who has demonstrated leadership ability and is ready for the opportunity to step up.

Where This Role Can Go

Our intention is to develop the right Lead Hand into an NGQ Construction Foreman.

As you demonstrate your ability to manage production, people, quality and job-site responsibilities, the role will transition toward independently running framing crews and projects.

We're looking for someone who wants that responsibility — and wants the opportunity to grow as NGQ grows.

What NGQ Offers

- Full-time construction work
- Competitive compensation based on experience and ability
- Chance for increased compensation as responsibilities grow
- A clear path toward a Foreman position
- Hands-on leadership experience
- Opportunity to work on larger residential construction projects
- A growing company where strong employees have room to advance
- A straightforward, hard-working team environment

Location

Projects are primarily located throughout Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas.

Apply

If you're an experienced framer who is ready to take on more responsibility and believes you have what it takes to eventually run a crew, we'd like to hear from you.

Please send us a brief introduction outlining your framing experience, any previous leadership experience and why you're interested in moving into a Lead Hand/Foreman role with NGQ Construction.

Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
