Business Tech Ninjas

Canada

You're the one who fixes things nobody asked you to fix. You spot what's broken before anyone else notices. People hand you the hard problems because they trust you'll figure it out, and then they hand you the next one, and the one after that, without changing your title or your pay.

If that sounds familiar, you already have the instinct we're looking for. We're just trying to build a company that actually rewards it.

We're Business Tech Ninjas (BTN). We build and manage the technology behind seven-figure online education and membership businesses: WordPress sites, CRM systems, and the automation running through them. We've been fully remote for over a decade.

One more thing, before you go looking

If you search us on Glassdoor or Indeed, you'll find some difficult reviews. We're not going to pretend they don't exist, or write them off as disgruntled former employees. Some of it is fair, and it happened because we hadn't yet built the structure to support the kind of company we were trying to become. We've written honestly about what we got wrong and what's actually changed since: Our Response to the Reviews. Read the reviews for yourself: https://businesstechninjas.com/glass-door-reviews. We'd rather you see the full picture before you apply than find it after.

How we actually work

Most companies manage one of two ways: they tell people exactly what to do, or they hand people a goal and hope they figure out the how. We're building toward something past both, a company where people develop the judgment to figure out what needs to happen in the first place.

Autonomy here comes with a price: responsibility. If nobody's checking your work, you check it. If a deadline is slipping, you tell us before we find out. If something's unclear, you help create the clarity instead of waiting for it.

In return, we owe you real things: context, working systems, honest feedback, and training that teaches you how we think, not just what to click. When something goes wrong, we look at whether the system failed you before we assume you failed. That has to run both directions,

or it doesn't work.

We call the cost of skipping this the Compliance Tax: the time an organization spends noticing, asking, reminding, checking and following up because something wasn't handled the first time. Cutting that tax down is a big part of why we work this way. It's also why we don't think the reward for being positive at your job should be a bigger pile of other people's problems.

If you want the long version, including the places we've fallen short of our own standard: The Kind of Company We're Building => https://businesstechninjas.com/hiring/

What the role actually is

You'll start as an Operator, learning our systems by running them: WordPress updates, CRM configuration, troubleshooting real client issues alongside people who'll show you how they think, not just what to do.

From there, the path is real, not aspirational:

Operator → you run systems reliably

Technologist Operator → you run them independently and start improving them

Builder → you design and own full implementation projects

Engineer and beyond → you design systems and strategy

People have reached Builder within 90 days. You level up by demonstrating judgment, not by waiting out a calendar.

Compensation

You'll start at $18–20 CAD/hour as an Operator. Proven performers see 25–45% increases within the first year as they move up the ladder. That's how pay actually moves here, not a hypothetical. Operator pay reflects Operator-level responsibility. If you're the kind of person this posting is written for, you likely won't stay there long.

What You'll Build (In Yourself, Not Just for Us)

Technical: WordPress, CRM platforms (Keap, ActiveCampaign, and others),

marketing automation, membership site architecture, client-facing project work.

The rarer skill: judgment. Knowing what actually matters, what's missing, whether something you built actually worked, and what to do next without being told. We call people who can do this Technologists. It's the skill that matters more as AI makes execution cheaper. Someone still has to decide what's worth executing.

Who this is for

There's really one kind of person we're looking for, at two different stages.

Some of you already operate this way: you notice what others miss, people trust you with hard things, and competence has mostly earned you more work instead of more say. You'll probably feel at home here fast.

Others aren't there yet but want to be: you're tired of waiting to be told what to do, you want honest feedback, and you want responsibility before you feel fully ready for it. You'll thrive here too.

This isn't the right fit if success, for you, means completing exactly what you're assigned and nothing more, or if feedback feels like an attack rather than information. Neither of those is a character flaw. It just means we're not the right match, and it's better we both know that now.
