Calian Belgium is a legal entity registered in Belgium that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration aimed at supporting Belgian Defence with training and exercise solutions. Our solutions combine local expertise, proven delivery methods, and interoperable live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation to ensure “train-as-you-will fight” is realistic, repeatable and measurable, while remaining fully aligned with national priorities.

Calian has been selected as a contender to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN). We are ready to deliver Belgian-built capabilities, underpinned by decades of experience supporting the Canadian Army, British Army and the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ecosystem.

Position Overview

As part of this initiative, Calian is currently seeking a Live Simulation (LIVESIM) Manager to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN) in Leopoldsburg, Belgium.

Responsibilities

- Responsible to the Training Development Leader for all LIVESIM activities and capabilities
- Leads and manages the LIVESIM Section
- Supervises all LIVESIM personnel, including LIVESIM Training Coordinators, LIVESIM Experts, LIVESIM Logistics personnel, Transportation Technicians, and assigned Independent Contractors
- Acts as the principal advisor on the employment of live simulation capabilities in support of SIMCEN training objectives
- Coordinates LIVESIM support requirements with Belgian Defence, Exercise Directors, Training Coordinators, and Primary Training Audiences (PTAs)
- Plans, prioritizes, and allocates LIVESIM resources in support of scheduled and unscheduled training activities
- Ensures operational readiness, availability,



and serviceability of all LIVESIM equipment and systems
- Oversees the planning, preparation, execution, and recovery of all LIVESIM-supported training activities
- Coordinates the integration of LIVESIM capabilities with Virtual Simulation (VIRSIM), Constructive Simulation (CONSIM), Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems, and other elements of the synthetic environment
- Oversees the development and maintenance of standardized LIVESIM scenarios, procedures, and support plans
- Coordinates all Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) support requirements associated with DuelSim and other LIVESIM systems
- Manages LIVESIM equipment lifecycle activities, including maintenance, replacement planning, inventory management, and serviceability tracking
- Coordinates personnel training, certification, and career development within the LIVESIM domain
- Supports exercise planning conferences, rehearsals, working groups, and capability development initiatives
- Provides technical and operational advice to the Technical Services Manager concerning LIVESIM systems, support requirements, and future capability enhancements
- Monitors LIVESIM performance metrics and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement
- Supports After-Action Reviews (AARs), Lessons Learned activities, and training effectiveness assessments
- Ensures compliance with safety, security, transportation, and equipment accountability requirements
- Serves as the senior escalation authority for all LIVESIM-related matters

Qualifications

- Must hold a Belgium Defence (BD) Candidate Senior Officers Course Qualification
- Must have previous experience managing small technical and logistics teams
- Previous experience using simulation systems is an asset
- Proficiency in Dutch AND French at CEFR B2 level or higher

- You must be willing to travel
