Position: Applications Engineer
Location: Ajax, Ontario
Overview: We are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our Engineering team in Ajax, Ontario. This position will focus on reviewing customer and project requirements, performing engineering calculations, sizing and selecting sound and emissions products, preparing technical documentation, and producing proposal and project drawings using SOLIDWORKS. The Applications Engineer will work closely with our Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams to develop practical technical solutions that meet customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Role / Responsibilities:
- Review customer specifications, drawings, engine data, and project requirements to determine appropriate product selections and configurations.
- Perform engineering calculations and product sizing for industrial silencers, exhaust systems, and emissions-control products.
- Review sound attenuation, exhaust flow, backpressure, temperature, emissions, and other application requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation, product data sheets, calculation packages, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Produce 3D models, assemblies, and proposal/layout drawings using SOLIDWORKS.
- Develop technical drawings and documentation for customer review and approval.
- Support the Sales team by reviewing technical inquiries and developing solutions for customer applications.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Designers and the Engineering team to transition approved projects into detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Review customer comments and technical requirements and incorporate revisions into project documentation.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify technical requirements when required.
- Assist with research and development of new products, product improvements, and prototype testing.
- Maintain organized engineering calculations, technical documentation, CAD files, and project records.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and standardization of engineering processes, calculations, and documentation.
Knowledge and Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical applications environment.
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Comfortable performing engineering calculations and working with technical data.
- Robust working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with mechanical systems, fabrication, industrial equipment, or manufacturing processes is an asset.
- Experience with acoustics, exhaust systems, power generation, engines, or emissions-control equipment is an asset but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate technical work.
- Must be local to the GTA area.
