Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Downtown Toronto, ON
Job Type: Part-Time with Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time
Schedule: Starting at approximately 2 days per week, with the opportunity to expand to a full-time, 5-day-per-week schedule as the clinic grows
Compensation: $35–$55 per hour, based on experience, credentials and scope of practice

The Opportunity

Altera Health Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a confidential private healthcare organization in downtown Toronto seeking an experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist to join its clinical team.

This position will initially begin at approximately two days per week. As the clinic grows and imaging volumes increase, there is an opportunity for the position to develop into a full-time, five-day-per-week role.

Candidates who prefer to maintain a part-time schedule may also have the opportunity to do so, making this an attractive position for an experienced sonographer seeking either long-term flexibility or future full-time growth.

The successful candidate will perform a broad range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations with a strong focus on technical accuracy, image quality and exceptional patient care. This position is ideally suited to a versatile sonographer who is comfortable working across multiple imaging modalities and enjoys providing patients with a calm, professional and personalized clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations across a variety of clinical indications.
- Conduct general ultrasound studies, including abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, small-parts and other applicable examinations.
- Perform vascular duplex ultrasound examinations using appropriate Doppler techniques and protocols.
- Perform echocardiography, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), where credentialed and within scope of practice.
- Support stress echocardiography procedures as required.
- Acquire and optimize diagnostic-quality images across a range of patient presentations and body types.
- Apply appropriate Doppler settings, measurements and imaging protocols to ensure consistent and clinically useful studies.
- Review examinations for technical quality, completeness and appropriate documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic patient and imaging records.
- Complete required equipment checks,



quality assurance procedures and clinical documentation.
- Follow established infection prevention, patient identification and safety standards.
- Clearly explain imaging procedures to patients and help create a comfortable and reassuring experience.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- Current certification with Sonography Canada — such as CRGS, CRCS/CRVS or another applicable credential — and/or ARDMS certification.
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical ultrasound experience in a hospital, diagnostic imaging centre, outpatient clinic or comparable healthcare setting.
- Strong experience performing general diagnostic ultrasound, including abdominal and pelvic imaging.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ultrasound image acquisition, optimization and quality assessment.
- Experience with vascular duplex imaging and Doppler ultrasound is highly desirable.
- Echocardiography experience, particularly TTE, is strongly preferred.
- Experience assisting with or performing stress echocardiography is an asset.
- TEE training or certification is considered an additional asset.
- Experience with thyroid, small-parts and musculoskeletal ultrasound is an asset.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience working with PACS, EHR/EMR and digital imaging systems.
- Strong understanding of ultrasound quality assurance and clinical documentation requirements.

Multi-Modality Experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring experience across more than one ultrasound specialty.

Additional consideration will be given to sonographers with experience in any combination of:

- General ultrasound
- Abdominal and pelvic imaging
- Thyroid and small-parts imaging
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound
- Vascular ultrasound
- Venous and arterial duplex studies
- Echocardiography
- TTE




- Stress echocardiography

Dual or multi-modality credentialing is a significant asset.
