Pregnancy Outreach and Family Resource Worker - Healthy Families Program

Program provides a range of supports from pregnancy through the early years, with a focus on healthy pregnancy, nutrition and food security, emotional support and connections to community resources.

Key duties and responsibilities:

· Connect with families via text, phone, home visits and group interactions in order to build rapport, identify needs and goals, address barriers and provide support, guidance and problem-solving strategies.

· Refer participants to relevant community services, and provide advocacy, when appropriate.

· Provide education and health promotion to increase healthy outcomes in pregnancy.

· Participate in on-going case management for participants in the program, including documentation

· Assist with varied tasks including group support, providing transportation, child minding, organizing special events; assisting with food distribution projects and other duties as required

Knowledge, skills and ability

· Demonstrate an understanding of trauma-informed practice, potential client vulnerabilities and respect for peoples life experiences.

· Knowledge of common issues related to the perinatal period





· Knowledge of child development and parenting through the lens of attachment

· Maintain and abide by standards of confidentiality, freedom of information and privacy protection.

· Ability to be non-judgemental and approachable

· Excellent time management and organizational skills

· Solid professional and personal boundaries

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to multi-task and be flexible

· Able to work as part of a team, as well as independently

Qualifications and experience

· Degree or completed diploma preferred but relevant work and / or life experience may be considered

· Relevant experience working or volunteering with children and families

· Strong computer skills

· Nutrition background / cooking skills are an asset

Conditions of Employment:

Valid BC driver’s license and successful Drivers Abstract; personal vehicle in good working condition with willingness to obtain appropriate vehicle insurance coverage per agency policy. Able to transport participants.

Additional information: Hours of work are 9am-2pm Monday thru Thursday; Family friendly work environment

Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week
