Overview

Calmac Poultry is looking for a reliable, hands-on Farm Operator to support day-to-day operations of a broiler farm. This role is a mix of livestock oversight and general farm work. The right person will take pride in maintaining a clean, well-run operation and ensuring birds are performing at a high level. A high standard of cleanliness and organization across the property is an important part of this role.

Responsibilities

- Oversee daily bird health and flock condition

- Monitor and adjust barn systems (ventilation, heat, water, feed systems)

- Manage flock cycles including chick placements and catch/ship coordination

- Maintain biosecurity and barn cleanliness standards

- Identify and address issues with birds or equipment early

- Perform general farm duties including lawn care, weed control, minor repairs, barn clean out, and snow removal

- Operate equipment such as skid steer, payloader, and other farm machinery

Qualifications

- Background in farming, livestock, or agriculture preferred

- Comfortable operating farm equipment

- Mechanically inclined and able to handle basic repairs

- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

- Takes pride in keeping a farm clean and organized

Work Schedule & Hours





- Full time role with a flexible, cycle-based schedule

- Active flock period (approx. 7 weeks): daily responsibilities including weekends

- Typical workload Monday–Friday: 4–6 hours per day, with additional time as needed

- Weekends: 2 hours per day

- Turnaround period between flocks (approx. 2–3 weeks): significantly reduced workload focused on barn clean out, prep, and general farm upkeep- This period allows for substantial time off between flocks, while still maintaining basic property responsibilities

On-Call Expectations

- Must be available to respond to urgent barn issues outside regular working hours (e.g., equipment or system failures)

Compensation

$50,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience and fit

Opportunity for increases over time based on performance and responsibility

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
