Potter's Hand Daycare

Kelowna

Potter’s Hand Daycare is a licensed, ECE-owned and operated childcare centre in Kelowna’s Landmark District. As our centre continues to grow, we are looking for fun, passionate, and dedicated Infant/Toddler Educators who want to be part of a warm, collaborative team.

We’re looking for educators who genuinely enjoy working with children and with each other — people who are flexible, easygoing, dependable, and able to roll with the natural unpredictability that sometimes comes with a busy childcare environment.

Position Available

Full-Time Infant/Toddler Early Childhood Educator (I/T ECE)

While this position will be based primarily in our Infant/Toddler program, all of our educators are part of one centre-wide team. Applicants should be willing and comfortable working in our 3–5 program when needed and supporting wherever their skills are most helpful.

Flexibility with scheduling is also important. Applicants should be available and willing to work the closing shift when needed to support the needs of the centre and their team.

Please note: We are not hiring ECE Assistants at this time. Applicants must hold an Infant/Toddler Educator certification.

Wage

$25–$27 per hour - plus the $6 ECE Wage Enhancement, depending on certification and experience.

Who We’re Looking For

Our ideal educator is someone who:

- Is warm, playful, patient, and genuinely enjoys spending time with young children
- Is collaborative and enjoys being part of a centre-wide team
- Is flexible, adaptable, and able to handle changes in the day with a positive attitude
- Takes initiative and sees what needs to be done without always needing direction
- Is confident working independently while also respecting the roles, ideas, and professional judgment of fellow educators
- Communicates openly, respectfully, and constructively
- Is comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Brings ideas and creativity to the program without feeling that everything has to be done one particular way

- Is willing to work across both our Infant/Toddler and 3–5 programs when needed
- Is flexible with scheduling and able to work a closing shift when needed
- Is dependable, professional, and willing to pitch in when the team needs a hand
- Enjoys being active and outdoors

Qualifications & Requirements

- Current Infant/Toddler Educator certification
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to support children’s safety, documentation, teamwork, and family communication
- Physically able to participate in daily walks and outings to nearby parks, as outdoor play is a core part of our program
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is a definite asset

Why Potter’s Hand?

At Potter’s Hand, we believe children thrive when they feel known, valued, included, and connected. We recognize that families know their children best, and we value strong, respectful partnerships with parents as an essential part of providing consistent, responsive care. Open communication and collaboration between families and educators help us understand each child as an individual and support them as they grow.

ASL and inclusive communication are an important part of who we are. We are proud to serve several Deaf and Hard of Hearing families in our community and work closely with BC Family Hearing Society. As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), our owner brings a personal connection to Deaf culture and the Deaf community. We also welcome a Deaf instructor/educator to our centre each week to lead an ASL-rich circle time with the children.

American Sign Language is woven naturally into our everyday routines, songs, play, and learning experiences. Previous knowledge of ASL is a definite asset, but it is not required. Educators who are new to ASL should be enthusiastic about learning and comfortable incorporating it into their everyday practice.

We also believe great childcare happens when educators work with one another, not around one another. We value people who take initiative, think independently, and bring their own strengths and ideas to the team — while remaining flexible, collaborative, and respectful of the strengths and professional judgment of others.

Shared responsibility, open communication, adaptability, and a good sense of humour go a long way in creating the kind of workplace we want to come to every day.

What We Offer

- A beautiful, newly opened and thoughtfully designed childcare centre
- A supportive, respectful, and collaborative work environment
- Medical and dental benefits after the probationary period
- Paid time off during Christmas break
- Opportunities for professional growth as the centre grows

- A workplace where educators are encouraged to contribute their own ideas, interests, creativity, and strengths

If you are a warm, capable, flexible educator who takes initiative, enjoys working collaboratively, and doesn’t get rattled when the day doesn’t go exactly according to plan, we would love to hear from you!
