Job Summary

Join us as a Referee Volunteer for the Princess Margaret Road Hockey 2026 event! This paid position offers an exciting prospect to be at the heart of a dynamic sporting event, ensuring fair play, safety, and an enjoyable experience for all participants.

Ref in the most action-packed and spirited recreational Road Hockey event of the year. Hundreds of teams made up of rookies, veterans, A-list celebrities and NHL heroes all united by one common goal: Creating a future free of Cancer.

Duties

- Enforce game rules and regulations consistently to ensure fair play across all matches
- Communicate clearly with players to facilitate smooth game flow, and calling penalties and goals.
- Monitor player conduct and address any misconduct or rule violations promptly
- Work with the Game Managers to record game scores and outcomes
- Support event staff in maintaining a secure, respectful, and energetic atmosphere throughout the tournament

Qualifications

- Prior experience as a referee or officiator in hockey or similar sports is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided




- Solid understanding of hockey rules, regulations, and gameplay dynamics
- Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with players
- Ability to stand, move quickly, and stay alert for extended periods during matches
- Positive attitude with a passion for sportsmanship and youth engagement
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours during the event period
