Job Description: Machining & Quality Control Inspector

Position Summary

The machining Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all machined components and assemblies meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable industry standards, including AS9100 requirements. This role performs detailed inspections throughout the manufacturing process and works with other inspectors and production personnel to maintain the highest levels of product quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Verification

· Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined parts and assemblies.

· Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T;, specifications, and customer requirements.

· Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.

· Verify material certifications, process certifications, and traceability documentation.

· Conduct First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.

· Review supplier documentation and inspection records for completeness and accuracy.

Quality Management System Compliance

· Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer specifications, and internal procedures.

· Maintain accurate inspection reports, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action records.

· Assist with internal, customer, and third-party audits.

· Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

· Monitor calibration status of inspection and measurement equipment.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

· Investigate nonconforming products and coordinate containment activities.

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.





· Analyze inspection data and trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Education

Diploma or certificate in Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.

Experience

· 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing workplace.

· Experience of working with AS9100

· Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industry experience preferred.

· Experience with AS9102 First Article Reports.

Technical Skills

· Advanced knowledge of GD&T.;

· Proficiency with precision measurement tools and CMM operation.

· Familiarity with Proshop ERP system an asset

· Strong understanding of material and special process certifications.

· Knowledge of calibration systems and statistical process control (SPC).

Working Conditions

· Manufacturing and machine shop environment.

· Standing for extended periods and handling small precision components.

· Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

· Use of personal protective equipment as required.

Preferred Certifications

· ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)

· ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT)

· GD&T; certification

Performance Expectations

· Maintain high inspection accuracy and documentation quality.

· Ensure all products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

· Support successful audit outcomes.

· Reduce nonconformances and customer returns.

Contribute to continuous improvement and team dev

Pay: $24.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
