Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and technically skilled Audiovisual Technician to join our production team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Operations Manager and assist with the preparation, setup, operation, troubleshooting, and teardown of professional audiovisual equipment for live events, corporate productions, concerts, festivals, and other productions.This position requires a strong understanding of audiovisual signal flow, hands-on technical ability, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, loading, transportation, setup, operation, and teardown of audiovisual equipment.
- Set up and operate professional audio, lighting, and video systems for live events and productions.
- Follow and troubleshoot signal flow involving audio, lighting, video, networking, and control systems.
- Assist with the setup and operation of:
- Audio consoles and digital mixing systems
- Microphones and wireless microphone systems
- Loudspeaker systems and monitors
- Lighting consoles and DMX-controlled fixtures
- Moving lights, LED fixtures, and atmospheric effects
- Video switchers and presentation systems
- Cameras, projectors, displays, and confidence monitors
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of technical issues during event setup and operation.
- Run and manage cabling, including audio, speaker, video, DMX, network, and power cabling.
- Ensure equipment is properly handled, maintained, organized, and returned to the warehouse following events.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment trucks and trailers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Communicate professionally with team members, clients, performers, and other event personnel.
- Perform other production-related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to and from work when required.
- Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of signal flow for audio, lighting, and video systems.
- Working knowledge of professional audio equipment and digital audio consoles.
- Working knowledge of lighting systems, including DMX signal flow and lighting consoles.
- Working knowledge of video systems, including video switchers, displays, projectors, and signal routing.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with cables, connectors, adapters, and professional AV equipment.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, system diagrams, patch sheets, and production schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Professional attitude and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and long event days.
Preferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are considered an asset:
- Previous experience working in live events, concerts, corporate events, festivals, or audiovisual production.
- Experience with digital audio consoles.
- Experience with professional lighting consoles and moving lights.
- Experience operating video switchers and live video systems.
- Knowledge of wireless microphone coordination and RF systems.
- Experience with livestreaming and broadcast-style productions.
- Knowledge of networking and AV-over-IP systems.
- Experience driving cargo vans, trucks, or towing trailers.
- Relevant education or certifications in audio, lighting, video, broadcasting, or live event production.
Physical RequirementsThis position involves active physical work and may require the employee to:
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Load and unload trucks and production equipment.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work at heights when required and when properly trained and equipped.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks associated with event setup and teardown.

Work Schedule and Hours
This position is part of the live events and entertainment industry and requires a flexible schedule. Work hours may vary significantly depending on production schedules, event requirements, and client needs.Candidates should understand that this is not a typical Monday-to-Friday, 9-to-5 position. Event days may involve early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
Depending on the production, technicians may be required to work long days that can exceed 8–12 hours. The successful candidate must be prepared to work flexible and extended hours when required and should be comfortable with the physical and mental demands of long production days.While schedules will be communicated as far in advance as reasonably possible, flexibility is essential due to the nature of live events and production work.
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
