About the Position
Baishihu Biotech Ltd. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the development of an AI-assisted nanobody discovery platform.
This position combines bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, protein sequence analysis, scientific research, and technical documentation. The successful candidate will work with our research team to organize biological datasets, develop computational workflows, evaluate nanobody candidates, and support the development of a practical discovery platform.
This is an excellent chance for a recent graduate or early-career candidate interested in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, computational biology, antibody engineering, or drug discovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, organize, and annotate nanobody, antibody, antigen, and protein sequence data.
- Assist with the development of AI and machine-learning workflows for nanobody screening and candidate ranking.
- Analyze nanobody sequences, complementarity-determining regions, physicochemical properties, and developability characteristics.
- Write and maintain Python scripts, data-processing pipelines, and analysis notebooks.
- Support protein structure prediction, molecular modelling, docking, and sequence comparison workflows.
- Search scientific literature and biological databases for relevant nanobody and antigen information.
- Help evaluate predicted nanobody candidates for specificity, stability, solubility, aggregation risk, and potential binding performance.
- Work with the laboratory team to connect computational predictions with experimental testing.
- Prepare figures, tables, summaries, and technical reports.
- Maintain accurate daily research records, experiment logs, source data, code versions, and project documentation.
- Participate in research meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Perform other related research and development duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in bioinformatics,
computational biology, computer science, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, data science, or a related field.
- Basic experience with Python, R, or another programming language used for scientific data analysis.
- Understanding of biological sequences, proteins, antibodies, genetics, or molecular biology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize datasets and maintain accurate technical records.
- Ability to learn new software, scientific methods, and research workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an asset:
- Machine learning or deep learning
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or similar tools
- Protein sequence analysis
- Antibody or nanobody engineering
- VHH sequences and complementarity-determining regions
- AlphaFold or other protein structure prediction tools
- Molecular docking or molecular dynamics
- Biological databases and literature searches
- Linux, Git, Jupyter Notebook, or cloud computing
- Laboratory research, molecular biology, PCR, sequencing, or protein assays
- Web application or scientific software development
