Inventory Controller
Woodstock Home Hardware Building Centre is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our team.
This is primarily an office-based administrative position responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our inventory system. The successful candidate will play an important role in product setup, SKU maintenance, receiving, inventory reporting, pricing and costing accuracy, and investigating inventory discrepancies.
This position requires someone who is comfortable working with detailed information, has strong computer skills, and takes pride in ensuring information is entered and maintained accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain new SKUs and product records within our inventory management system.
- Ensure product descriptions, costs, retail pricing, units of measure, vendors, categories, and other product information are entered accurately.
- Review and update existing SKU and product information as required.
- Maintain accurate vendor and product information within the system.
- Assist with product cost and retail price updates.
- Receive incoming products and purchase orders accurately into the POS system.
- Review and match receiving paperwork against purchase orders, packing slips, and vendor documentation to ensure quantities, products, and costs are accurate.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies between products received, receiving paperwork, and information entered into the POS system.
- Complete and process Return to Vendor (RTV) transactions, ensuring all required documentation and system entries are completed accurately.
- Maintain organized records of receiving paperwork, RTVs, credits, and other inventory-related documentation.
- Process and review inventory adjustments while ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Work with purchasing, receiving, accounts payable, sales, and management to resolve inventory-related issues.
- Assist with receiving discrepancies, purchase order issues, and product setup errors.
- Review duplicate SKUs and assist with maintaining a clean and accurate product database.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical inventory records.
- Help develop and maintain inventory-control procedures and best practices.
- Provide general administrative support related to inventory and product management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in inventory control, administration, purchasing, data entry, accounting support, or a similar office-based position is preferred.
- Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience working with inventory management, ERP, or point-of-sale systems is an asset.
- Experience with Profit Master is considered a strong asset.
- Lumber, building materials, hardware, or retail experience is an asset but not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Comfortable working with numbers, reports, spreadsheets, and large amounts of product data.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate issues through to resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accountability and confidentiality.
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
