At Indoc Systems, we design, build, and manage advanced health data infrastructures for research organizations across the globe. Our large-scale informatics platforms support a wide range of complex health data modalities – including imaging, genomics, clinical assessments, and wearable sensor data - across multiple disease domains such as neuroscience, cardiovascular health, and oncology. Indoc’s Pilot research data platform software and associated services are deployed in diverse environments, including research institutes, hospitals, and universities.
We are currently seeking a Research Informatics Specialist to join our Research Services team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain our informatics platforms and provide high-quality support services. Your efforts will help ensure that end users can effectively access, explore, and utilize the platform and its hosted datasets to advance their research objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Support, Training, and Documentation
- Provide data management, technical, and operational support to customers.
- Support and maintain the central help desk service and ensure timely responses to day-to-day user inquiries.
- Develop and maintain training modules and deliver training to new users.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures, knowledge bases, and system documentation.
- Participate in platform data management activities including data collection, maintenance, curation, visualization, sharing, and controlled release.
- Engage with diverse customer types (e.g., data providers, curators, and analysts) to define business requirements for incoming data, including data ingestion, linking, and query needs.
- Support and conduct modality specific QA/QC activities.
- Collaborate with customer data curation teams and Indoc data engineers to design data pipelines and downstream query APIs.
- Provide subject matter expertise to development and data engineering teams, translating and communicating user requirements.
- Assist with the configuration and implementation of platform systems.
- Support the DevOps team by participating in testing and validation activities and communicating user issues and requests.
- Develop and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new and updated products.
- Collaborate with team members to develop new products and services to meet informatics needs of user groups.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, relevant experience
- Experience in study and data management and research operations within health or medical sectors
- Broad understanding of clinical research environments (academic, hospital or industry), including protocol requirements, Research Ethics Board processes, and data management best practices.
- Experience with health and research data management, including familiarity with established data management standards and best practices.
- Hands-on experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Working knowledge of querying REST APIs.
- Proficiency with data and visualization tools (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica, TIBCO Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, Superset)
- Programming or scripting experience, preferably in R or Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated willingness to research, learn, and adopt, new technologies and approaches.
