The Kamloops Thompson Teachers’ Association (KTTA) serves approximately 1400 teachers in the Kamloops-Thompson school district. The Association is seeking a casual office assistant who has solid interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task. This position requires resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, organization, flexibility with scheduling and the ability to manage workload in a timely manner.
Responsibilities and Duties Include (Task List A)
This position reports to the Office Manager and Table Officers of the KTTA.
· Answer incoming calls and other receptionist duties, including voicemail, fax, email and mail
· Generate memos and emails
· Respond to questions and requests for information
· Preparation of meeting agendas and minutes, including notice to members
· Maintain contact lists and information that officers need quick access to (desk binders)
· Maintain records of teachers who are released for union business, and liaise with accounts payable
· Maintain office calendars
· Update membership database as changes are necessary
· Operate computer internet system
· Channel internet messages to the appropriate personnel
· Webpage Maintenance
· Establish and maintain database and enter information regarding PD requests and approvals
· Process PD requests and approvals, consistent with established local policies
· Assist teachers to complete forms and applications relating to PD
· Confirm enrolment in workshops
· Keep books and/or records of reimbursements for PD activities
· Design and supervise production and distribution of PD workshop option booklets for members
· Other duties as assigned by officers consistent with experience and qualifications
· Work with other staff to ensure smooth running of office
Qualifications and Skills
· Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Canva and Word Press
· Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Superior organizational skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
· Previous office experience is an asset
Salary and Benefits
· Wages and benefits as per the USW2009 Collective agreement at Category A
· This is a casual position starting in September 2026
