INTERVENTION WORKER for Barrhead and Westlock Area
(Full-time Temporary Position until January 14, 2028)
About the position:
This position will be responsible for counseling families on an individual and group basis, where physical and developmental disabilities, mental health disorders and complex behaviours exist. The Family Intervention Worker is responsible for overall case management, and the coordination of activities for the youth and families within the parameters of the program. Other responsibilities include counseling services and competency skill development for all members of the family as well as basic care and recreational services for the youth. They work effectively as a part of a team that collaborates with the family to assist them in achieving their goals. Please note that there maybe pets in the homes
Hours: 40 hours per week, Position is typically Monday-Friday, but flexibility is required as there maybe some evenings or weekend meetings.
Location: Barrhead and Westlock Area, Alberta.
What you’ll do:
· Promote community inclusion, provide short term supports, provide and coordinate services from the Family Intervention Program
· Model and support the families in developing a range of healthy individual coping and problem-solving skills
· Counsel youth and families
· Provide supported home visits for youth when required
· Complete all required documentation and reports and develop written assessment strategies
What you bring:
· Completion of Degree or Diploma in Human Services Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· Six (6) months of directly related experience in youth/family work
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Police Information Check including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
· Emergency First Aid—Level C CPR + AED
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license, a current driver’s abstract, auto insurance with a minimum of $2 million third-party liability coverage, and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
· Trauma informed care practices
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Robust computer/word processing skills
· Strong counseling, program planning, organization and mediation skills
· Direct experience supporting Indigenous youth, and their families is a strong asset
· Demonstrated ability to apply the CARE model in supporting children and youth.
· Knowledge of family violence is an asset
