Overview
We are looking for an experienced Welder/Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a quick-paced production environment and will have strong fitting, measuring, blueprint-reading, and GMAW/MIG welding skills. This position requires the ability to interpret engineered drawings, determine fitting and assembly sequences, accurately tack components, and produce quality fabricated assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and basic welding symbols
- Fit, tack, and weld fabricated steel assemblies accurately to drawing requirements
- Measure, cut, grind, drill, and prepare steel components for fabrication
- Operate semi-automatic GMAW/MIG welding equipment
- Use grinders, torches, plasma cutters, drills, and other fabrication equipment
- Verify dimensions, squareness, alignment, and overall fit using measuring tools
- Follow established Canadian Welding Bureau welding procedures
- Maintain required quality standards throughout fabrication
- Record labour hours accurately by job
- Operate shop equipment including: Overhead cranes, Forklifts, Horizontal band saws, Radial arm drills
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE standards
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
- Experience with GMAW/MIG welding
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of welding processes and basic metal characteristics
- Strong tape-measure and dimensional measurement skills
- Ability to perform basic calculations required to square and lay out fabricated structures
- Comfortable working independently from drawings
- Strong attention to accuracy and workmanship
- Ability to safely lift and handle heavy materials as required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can build accurately from a drawing, and understands that fit, finish, quality, and productivity all matter.
Pay: $22.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
