It's a wonderful time of year to be here, with bear season in full swing and some truly spectacular wilderness experiences on offer. This is not a requirement, but for the right person it's a fantastic opportunity to hit the ground running ahead of next year.

About Chilko

The Chilko Experience is a boutique wilderness lodge in British Columbia's Chilcotin region, offering guests an unforgettable experience in untouched wilderness — wildlife, adventure, fine dining, and warm, personal hosting. Our guides play a huge role in shaping the guest experience. Guided activities include lake and river tours, fishing, bear viewing, hiking, ATVing, archery, axe-throwing and kayaking.

- Fishing guiding (fly-fishing and spin fishing)

— instruction, technique support, guest management and enthusiasm
- Boat operation and guest safety on the water
- Trip planning and daily organisation (timing, gear, guest expectations, contingency plans)
- Communicate clearly with management, your team and relevant departments to support smooth daily operations
- Maintain guiding equipment readiness and ensure guests are properly outfitted
- Uphold Chilko's standards of hospitality, professionalism and safety at all times

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Previous guiding experience
- Strong fishing skills and experience guiding or instructing guests
- Valid boat licence and confidence operating boats safely
- First Aid certification required (Wilderness First Aid strongly preferred)
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Customer service oriented, professional and personable
- Genuine passion for nature, wildlife and responsible outdoor recreation
- Comfortable living and working in a remote, team-based environment
- Must be able to commit to multiple seasons

Bonus (Nice to Have)

- Previous head guide or lead guide experience
- Experience guiding in remote luxury lodge settings
- Knowledge of local ecosystems, wildlife and interpretation skills
