About MTLI Group
MTLI Group is a growing North American company operating in a fast-paced and expanding environment. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a hands-on, dependable, and results-oriented Finance Assistant who is ready to take ownership of assigned responsibilities and contribute to a growing finance team.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant with strong practical bookkeeping and QuickBooks Online experience.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day finance operations, with an immediate focus on payroll processing and independent contractor payments.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for accurately processing payroll and contractor payments and providing administrative support related to payroll. These payments will be reviewed and approved by the Finance Manager.
After training on MTLI Group’s procedures and systems, the successful candidate is expected to process payroll and contractor payments independently, accurately, and on time. The ideal candidate is comfortable working under pressure, meeting deadlines, identifying issues, and finding practical solutions with limited supervision.
Position Details:
- Position: Finance Assistant
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite and 2 days online
- Location: 165 Gibson Dr., Unit 1, Markham, Ontario, L3R 3K7
- Expected Start Date: September 14, 2026
- Salary: $50,000 per year
This role may require greater commitment and availability at times; successful candidates must be flexible and willing to support business needs beyond core hours when necessary
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Contractor Payments
- Process payroll and independent contractor payments accurately and on time after training.
- Review payroll and payment inputs, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues when required.
- Provide administrative support for payroll-related activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll and payment records.
- Ensure processed payments are properly supported and ready for Finance Manager review and approval.
Accounting & Finance Support
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Perform bookkeeping, transaction recording, account reconciliations, and data entry using QuickBooks Online.
- Support project billing, collections, and reconciliations.
- Process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions and employee expenses.
- Support month-end reconciliations and other finance-related administrative activities.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Identify accounting or process issues and take initiative to resolve them or escalate them appropriately.
- Assist with finance-related projects and other duties as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Only candidates who meet ALL of the following minimum requirements will be considered:
- At least 1 years of practical bookkeeping experience.
- At least 1 year of hands-on QuickBooks Online experience. QuickBooks Online experience is mandatory.
- Practical experience in a Finance Assistant, bookkeeping, or accounting support role in a business environment.
- Experience supporting payroll processing is strongly preferred.
- Ability to learn MTLI Group’s processes and independently process payroll and contractor payments after training.
- Experience supporting AP/AR, billing, collections, reconciliations, or expense management.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Robust proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and deadline management.

The following would be considered an asset:
- Experience with the RAMP corporate card and expense management platform.
- Previous experience processing payroll independently.
- Experience in a fast-paced construction, installation, logistics, or project-based business environment.
