Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Owned and operated by Dr. Steven Davidson, Upper Village Veterinary Hospital is a state-of-the-art animal hospital looking for an RVT to join our growing team. At Upper Village we are a collaborative hospital where learning and teamwork matter and are prioritized.

What you’ll do

- Support veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and patient recovery
- Assess patients, recognize changes, document findings, and communicate clearly with the DVM
- Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, ear, and skin samples; perform cytology, urinalysis, PCV, platelet counts, and other in-house testing
- Produce diagnostic radiographs safely, using a hands-free approach whenever possible
- Use a fear-free approach to handling and restraint whenever possible, adapting to each patient’s needs
- Run technician appointments, including treatments, client communication, medical records, and billing
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, nutrition, vaccination and testing protocols, zoonotic risks, and home care
- Maintain accurate treatment notes, reminders, surgical and drug logs, follow-ups, prescriptions, controlled-drug records, inventory, and equipment

What you bring

- RVT registration in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT); with a Veterinary Technician diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated competency across anesthesia, surgical assistance, diagnostics, laboratory work,



and patient care
- Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, dental radiographs, scaling, polishing, charting, and routine veterinary treatments is an asset
- A patient-centred approach that uses fear-free handling whenever possible, with strong client-education and communication skills
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and comfort working independently with minimal supervision
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach that helps uphold consistency of care across departments
- Willingness to advocate for, guide, and support team members in elevating competency around this model of care when appropriate
- Current rabies vaccination, or willingness to complete one according to hospital health and safety policy
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting with proper technique and asking for help when needed
- Interest in supporting marketing and social-media initiatives, including photography, events, and broadcasting

Salary: $28-35 per hour, based on experience, credentials, and demonstrated competency.

QUALIFICATIONS: Pain management experince, patient care, laboratory experience, anesthesiology, leadership, animal handling

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
